La Salud Global, la Salud Planetaria y los historiadores

Resumen

Los objetivos de este artículo son describir la emergencia del término “salud global” y sintetizar las discusiones históricas sobre este concepto que, según algunos expertos, fue adoptado con sumo interés por las agencias internacionales de salud desde fines del siglo XX. No obstante, determinados historiadores dudaron de la utilidad de ese concepto, debido a su relación con el discurso glorificador de la globalización económica neoliberal. En el trabajo se analizan las posibilidades para los historiadores de la salud de utilizar un nuevo paradigma surgido recientemente entre los sanitaristas y los ambientalistas, conocido como “salud planetaria”.
